About Our Company
This is the story about a boy from Oklahoma who grew up as a
third generation contractor. His father was in construction just
as his father’s father was 50 years before. As a boy, he would
sometimes go to work with his dad in the summer time. He would
play with hotwheels on cement slab floors while his dad was
framing walls to build new houses. And while this boy was
growing up as a third generation contractor, his other hero, his
grandfather on his mother’s side, had just retired a few years
earlier. His grandfather on his mother’s side, Loren Rosamond,
had owned his own successful construction company from about
1934 to 1974.
The boy used to stay at his grandparents house quite often as a
kid. In the corner of the dining room in his grandparents house,
there was a freestanding gas heater that served as the only
source of heat in the house. In the winter on cold, brisk
mornings in Oklahoma, the boy would stand in front of the
heater, snuggly wrapped in a blanket, and stare at a mirror that
hung on the wall. The mirror hung just above the heater on the
left hand side. On the mirror there was an inscription at the
bottom which read: “Lillard and Rosamond Casing Pulling”. It was
from his grandfathers business. His grandfather was so proud of
his business and this mirror served as a reminder of his
accomplishments. His grandfather would say “A man is only as
good as his word”. On those cold, brisk mornings in Oklahoma,
the boy would stand there, staring at the mirror in awe, and
thinking to himself “I wanna be just like my grandpa when I grow
up”.
Since that time, his grandfather has passed away and the boy has
become a man. He has worked at four different home improvement
companies, all of which lacked the honesty and integrity he was
looking for in a business. Although he was making a lot of money
working for these companies, there was something missing,
something more important than the money. Then one day it hit
him. What was missing was that image he would see as a boy,
looking at that company mirror hanging on his grandpa’s wall. It
was that larger than life idea about “being just like his
grandpa”. At that instant, everything he had been searching for
became so clear and the man decided his life was much more than
he had been demonstrating. It became obvious what he must do:
open his own business and run it the way his grandfather ran
his.
Knowing his grandfather was an honest man who always kept his word, the man could only imagine how his grandfather must have run his business so many years ago. It was in a time when life was simple. In a time when strangers said “hi”. In a time when integrity, honesty, and reliability were common practice in business.
Although times have changed, and business practices have changed with them, it’s nice to know that that man has committed himself to running a business the way his grandfather must have run his: with integrity, honesty, and reliability.
So this is how we create customers for life: by following in the footsteps of our owners grandfather. By building on integrity and a commitment to honest and reliable work, the way all businesses operated once upon a time. We believe that the work we do truly is a reflection of who we are. And on these ethics, we run a business called Home Improvement Alliance Corporation.
